Insecurity

Insecurity is something that is so utterly unattractive to me, in both men and women.  I know some people have better genetics than others and there are some aspects of your appearance that you can’t help but everyone has some kind of flaw and you just need to accept it.  God made you the way you are for a reason, not to punish you, and he also put someone else on this earth that is going to love you exactly the way you are.  You might not have offers jumping at you but honestly it’s better that way, less temptation and less of the wrong kind of people to sift through to find the right one.

I saw so many girls in college basically throw themselves at guys just for the attention so that he would tell her she was pretty or sexy.  One of my close friends was like that and I wish I had seen it sooner so I could have tried to help her but all I can do now is pray that she sees she’s beautiful and doesn’t need to have sex with a guy so he’ll tell her just that.  She would even exploit the fact that I was abstinent and announce it just so the guys would turn their attention off of me and on to her.

On the male side, you don’t have to go out and “get laid” to prove your manhood.  There actually are girls out there that will find your self-control attractive and respect you so much more for it if you choose not to hook up with girls all the time.  

Your reputation with God should be more important than your reputation with your friends.  I accepted that a long time ago and I chose to find friends that accept my vow of purity and admire me for it rather than judge me.  Don’t surround yourself with those who will put you down because that will eventually wear you down and make you feel that if you give in they’ll get off your back.  Long story short, accept yourself first and foremost and surround yourself by friends that accept you (even if they don’t have the same values).  Guys who just want a hook-up have learned to prey on the insecure girls because they know what to say to get what they want.  Don’t be one of those girls…or guys!
